This article is here to show you how to use Webhooks with ClickFunnels to help develop and grow your online business.
Why Use ClickFunnels?

Founded by Russel Brunson and Todd Dickerson in 2014, ClickFunnels was created to give entrepreneurs like you a platform to help you grow your business through the online world.
As you’ve probably discovered, ClickFunnels makes that incredibly easy by basically providing everything you need will in one single platform.
The platform is designed to increase sales and marketing of whatever web-based business you have created. They provide ways for you to get your products out there and gain or grow your existing customer base.
One of the ways ClickFunnels provides a method for improving your online business is through the use of Webhooks.
What is a Webhook?

Essentially, a Webhook is a way for two people to communicate with each other, but privately, not through a direct phone number or email.
A Webhook brings in a third-party communication device, or portal, which basically relays the message that was sent to first the Webhook, then to the desired recipient.
This process doesn’t mean someone is looking into the messages you are sending; it just allows both the customer and the business owner to interact on a business level rather than a personal level.
This also allows the business owner’s personal life to remain more private as they don’t have to give out any personal information.
An example of how this would work would be:
- A customer wants to know about a product and sends a text to the business owner (the number the customer is texting is not the business owner’s actual number but is a masked number)
- The message is then filtered and translated through the Webhook to the business owner’s actual number
- The Webhook sends the message to the business owner
- The business owner receives the customer’s message
Through this process, the customer’s personal information is also masked and kept private.

Here’s another way to think of the process:
You send your customer a message from your online business | A Webhook receives the message, sanitizes private information, and passes the customer’s message along | Your customer receives your message from your business without your private or personal email or contact information being compromised. |
Webhooks can be a little tricky to set up, especially for those who aren’t too savvy when it comes to computers. ClickFunnels breaks down this process for those in this position and makes it relatively easy to do once you are familiar with the platform.
In short, Webhooks are indirect yet direct communication at the same time.
Using Webhooks with ClickFunnels
ClickFunnels allows for the use of Webhooks on their site so that the small business owners can improve their means of communication with their customers.
In order to use a Webhook with a ClickFunnels page, there is a process that you need to go through. You also need to have ClickFunnel’s authorization to install the Webhook before you move forward.
For a Funnel Webhook to be triggered, a new contact or purchase must first be created or updated in a funnel.
When this is triggered, there needs to be a URL entered where an HTTP post can be sent. After this, ClickFunnels provides the following instructions:
- Content type as application/json
- X-Clickfunnels-Webhook-Delivery-Id as an MD5 of the URL and Payload
- The payload (HTTP message body) will be a JSON object with a key of “time” and value of the current time in UTC as follows:
- { “time”: “YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS UTC” }
ClickFunnels themselves have to verify certain details for the Webhook to be approved. There also is a specific set of requirements that the Webhook must meet.
The first of those requirements is that the link must be to an external source that is not hosted by clickfunnels.com.
The next requirement is that there must be a response within 3 seconds.
If ClickFunnels receives a response with a status code that is less than 400 within the 3 second response time, they will accept the Webhook URL that was provided earlier in the process.
If the URL is created on http://requestb.in/, the URL will be automatically accepted.
After having done all that, there is still more you will need to do to establish a Webhook!

Retrieving Your ClickFunnels Webhook
After completing the steps above, the next thing to do is to retrieve the funnel Webhook.
Doing this will officially establish the Webhook on the funnel of the owners choosing.
To retrieve the Webhook:
- Go to the funnel in which you want to create the Webhook and go to the “settings” tab in the top right corner of the screen and scroll down to Webhooks.
- Next, click “+New Webhook” This will ensure the page will be redirected to a screen with a review of the requirements from the first step of the process.
- Finally, enter the URL, select one or more events, select the Webhook version, and select the adapter. This will establish the Webhook to be officially used in accordance with your business as is intended.
When the Webhook is finally established, business communication will be easier at all levels.
It is a bit of a process to get a Webhook established, but it can truly do wonders in communication for your business, especially as your business grows and expands.
Webhooks and Business Communication
Using Webhooks in business communication can really change how business owners can talk with their customers.
In today’s world, texting is one of the most common forms of communication out there.
Texting might be the easiest way to communicate with one another, and Webhooks make that business communication process much easier and more secure.
When communicating with customers, business owners usually use a business email or phone. Webhooks can allow you, as a business owner, to communicate with your customers through your personal device but without giving away your personal phone number.
Using modern technology, Webhooks can truly change the game when it comes to your effective business communications.
Conclusion
Entrepreneurs everywhere are looking for ways to grow their business, market their products to more people, and develop strategies to move forward.
When it comes to making money online, it can be very stressful at times. Managing everything from a screen might seem easy, but when it comes down to it, you as an entrepreneur are really giving everything you’ve got into making your online business work.
ClickFunnels allows you to have a platform where you can do all of those things, and it can really pay off.
In conjunction with ClickFunnels, the use of Webhooks has allowed for improved communication between you, the business owner, and your customer, which could be critical in your small business’s success.
ClickFunnels turns applying a Webhook to a business into a fairly easy process. Both ClickFunnels and Webhooks use can help grow your small business, but using them together makes for communication with ease in the development of your online business.
